The Deanship of Student Affairs at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) organised its sixth career fair, under the title 'Meeting Future Partners', on Wednesday, with the participation of more than 38 employers from various sectors in Qatar.
The list of participants included government and private sector organisations in the fields of finance and business, education, services and social work, and the medical sector, in addition to other major employers in the country.
DI president Dr Abdelwahab El Affendi launched the fair in the presence of Administrative and Financial Sector executive director Iman al-Sulaiti and other officials. Al-Sulaiti said the annual event seeks to achieve several goals, including connecting the students and graduates with the Qatari labour market and identifying the requirements and needs of the market.
Student's Career Advising & Skills Development specialist Alia Chebaro said the event provided an opportunity for those interested to explore available career options, communicate directly with potential employers, and learn about the most important professional opportunities offered by the labour market in Qatar. She stressed that the event witnessed an increase of 58% in participation compared to last year with 13 new organisations joining.
As a side event, a workshop entitled "The Do's and Don’ts of job Searching" was delivered by Paige McDong, a professional development specialist from Qatar Career Development Centre, in which information and guidance were provided to students and graduates on ways and means to develop the skills required in the labour market.
