The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) announced, in co-operation with the Ministry of Municipality, the opening of registration in the national initiative for the encouragement of local production and subsidizing of lamb meat during the blessed month of Ramadan of this year, starting from Monday until February 16.
This step comes within the framework of MOCI's keenness on encouraging livestock breeders and farm-owners, as well as supporting local sheep production in a manner that enhances Qatar's self-sufficiency and supports balancing supply and demand, thus contributing to the market's price stability and guaranteeing the citizen's access to red meat at reasonable prices.
MOCI stated in a statement Saturday that sheep breeders and farm-owners who possess male sheep of the breeds (awasi — najdi — arab — and hariri) who wish to register must do so at the Livestock Department of the Ministry of Municipality, on the 11th floor of Al Mansour Tower, with attendance being in person or by an authorised official representative, in accordance with the applicable controls and provisions in this regard. The ministry added that the initiative's registration conditions are: presenting a valid license and a livestock breeder certificate.(QNA)
