Minister of Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of Finland Ville Skinnari underscored the close relations between Qatar and Finland, pointing to the numerous fields for cooperation between both sides like oil and gas, industry, and technology.
Minister Skinnari highlighted the investment climate in Finland, inviting Qatari businessmen to invest in his country.
This came during the Minister's meeting, with the First Vice-Chairman of Qatar Chamber (QC) Mohamed bin Twar Al Kuwari, during which they discussed means to bolster investment and trade cooperation between the two countries, and investment prospects in them.
QC's First Vice-Chairman said that the inauguration of the Finnish embassy in Qatar, which took place on Sunday, reflects the close relations between both countries, noting that the Qatari private sector welcomes enhancing cooperation with its Finnish counterpart, especially in the high technology sectors.
He also pointed out that the bilateral trade exchange grew by 4 percent, from QR 381 million in 2020 to QR 395 million in 2021, while it amounted to QR 314 million in the first nine months of 2022.
He also presented an overview of Qatar's investment climate and incentives, stressing that Qatar Chamber is keen on deepening cooperation between Qatari businessmen and their counterparts from world countries, indicating that the Qatari private sector is eager to learn more about business and investment opportunities galore in Finland.
Al Kuwari, also, welcomed Finnish Companies that want to enter the Qatari market, pointing to the presence of many Finnish companies that operate in Qatar in various sectors such as tourism, healthcare, lifts, and cosmetics.
For his part, Ambassador of Finland to Qatar Pekka Voutilainen praised the relations between both friendly countries, stressing that the inauguration of the Finnish embassy in Qatar will take these relations to higher levels.
Voutilainen also lauded Qatar's success in hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, noting that it was an exceptional tournament.
