The General Directorate of Traffic Wednesday started implementing a unified electronic system for the linking of traffic violations between Qatar and the UAE.
This comes within the framework of joint efforts made to enhance traffic safety and achieve the GCC initiative of having a unified system to link violations and exchange traffic data and information.
Brigadier Dr Mohamed Radi al-Hajri, director of the Traffic Awareness Department, affirmed that the unified electronic system for the linking of traffic violations between Qatar and the UAE would enable the motorist concerned to receive a text message on his/her mobile phone immediately after a traffic violation is recorded. The system would allow the motorist to pay the fine without having to be in the country where the violation takes place.
