The competitions were attended by a number of dignitaries and guests, most notably Prince Bandar bin Khalid bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, Adviser to the Saudi Royal Court, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Supreme Equestrian Authority and of the Board of Directors of the Horse Racing Club; and Princess Alia Bint al-Hussein, in addition to a number of sheikhs, ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions.
KIAHF Title Show deputy manager Ali al-Rumaihi praised the professional organisation of the festival, which began with the four-day Arabian Peninsula show on February 1, followed by the Auction on February 6, and then the Title Show, whose grand finale will take place on February 11.
Dr Ghanem Mohamed al-Hajri, owner of the Emirati Al-Hawajir Stud, praised the organisation of the KIAHF, which he said receives great attention from horse owners in the Gulf and beyond.
The Title Show is considered one of the largest such tournaments in the world and also among the biggest in terms of the quality of horses participating.
The KIAHF-2023 Title Show’s Day 2 saw purebred Arabian horses from all over the world being put out in the ring to compete in six categories: Colts 2 Years Old (Class 5A & 5B), Fillies 3 Years Old (Class 3A & 3B), Colts 3 Years Old (Class 6), and Mares 4-6 Years Old (Class 7).
In the Colts 2 Years Old (Class 5A) category, Falah Al Hawajer, owned by Dr Ghanem Mohamed Obaid al-Hajri, topped the competition, while Al Jassimya Farm’s Bandar Aljassimya was the best among the Colts 2 Years Old (Class 5B).
AJ Kayya, owned by Ajman Stud – Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid al-Nuaimi, won in the Fillies 3 Years Old (Class 3A) category, with Al Shaqab’s D Beisan stealing the show among Fillies 3 Years Old (Class 3B).
The winner in the Mares 4-6 Years Old (Class 7) category was Najla Umm Aludham, owned by Nasser Mohamed M A al-Hajri, while Lehon, owned by Al Jassimya Farm, won the first place in the Colts 3 Years Old (Class 6) category.
The top three winning horses of all qualifying classes make it to the championship finals, which will be held tomorrow.
The excellence of purebred Arabian horses at the KIAHF is arbitrated by an international jury based on type, body structure, head and neck, legs, muscles and movement.
While the mares should have amazing balance, poise and beauty, the stallions are judged based on their body structure, strength, movement and type.
The KIAHF carries a total prize purse of QR17,085,500, of which QR13,900,000 is the prize money for the Title Show, in addition to in-kind prizes provided by the sponsors.
