The “Future Engineer” programme by the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) in co-operation with the Qatar Scientific Club (QSC) is turning out to be an ideal opportunity for students to get familiarised with the various specialisations and fields of engineering in Qatar.According to posts shared by Ashghal on X, the participants attended several training sessions and visited various institutions nationwide.To run until July 24, the third edition of the programme has 30 participants, who receive useful and necessary engineering information through workshops and field visits in Ashghal and QSC laboratories and departments.They learn about the tasks of the Engineering Services Department and the nature of their work.Tours will be organised for the Quality and Safety Department, to introduce the rules of safety, quality of chemically and biologically treated water and inspection of construction materials.They are also introduced to the Drainage Operation and Maintenance Department and the bases and mechanisms for monitoring drainage systems.The students are introduced to the specialisations of engineers of the Buildings Projects Department while attending the presentation on maps and viewing the design and details of projects.The participants, during the programme, visited Ashghal’s Engineering Services Department to look at the latest drone devices.The team also visited Ashghal’s Contact Centre to learn about the mechanism of responding to the public.The programme included a tour of the Research and Development Centre of Ashghal’s Quality and Safety Department, where the students were introduced to the safety rules and the mechanism of conducting tests to measure quality in groundwater treatment chemically and biologically.
