Qatar National Sport Day was celebrated in the main campus of Birla Public School (BPS). Chief guest Indian ambassador Dr Deepak Mittal, guest of honour Nigerian badminton player Godwin Richard Oloufa, Indian embassy first secretary (culture, education & information) Sachin Dinkar Shankpal, BPS director and Indian Sports Centre president Dr Mohan Thomas, Indian Business and Professionals Council vice president Abdul Sathar, MES Indian School principal Dr Hameeda Kadar and other dignitaries were the special attendees. The Qatar and Indian national anthems were rendered by the school choir. An oath for healthy lifestyle was taken by all, led by Ajay Kumar, head, physical education department. Academic director and principal Harish Sanduja highlighted the contribution of two Indian adventurers lbrahim Bilal and Mohammad Afsal Haq, who call themselves 'AB Tech Vibe' and reached Qatar from Kasaragod, India, on their 22-year-old Bajaj Chetak scooter, as part of their seven-nation trip. They were the special guests on the occasion.
Band music provided by the Qatar Manjappada group was the entertainment highlight of the day. A walkathon led by Dr Mittal and a variety of games were held. Mementos were distributed to people and societies conducting dance and group performances all round Qatar. Jeena Pauline and Miny Easow compered the event.
