Qatar's diplomatic, consular and representative missions abroad organised various sporting activities on the occasion of the 12th edition of the National Sport Day (NSD), under the slogan "The Choice is Yours".
In Brussels, Qatar's mission to the European Union and Nato organised a sporting event, with the participation of Qatar's ambassador to the European Union and Nato Abdulaziz bin Ahmed al-Malki, the diplomatic staff, the military representative in the mission and local employees. The event included various outdoor sports activities, as well as competitions in one of the indoor gyms.
In his speech on this occasion, Qatar's ambassador to the European Union and Nato hailed Qatar's announcement of an annual NSD, stressing the importance of practicing sports and its benefits for individuals and the society.
In London, Qatar's embassy in the UK partnered with the Sisterhood FC organisation, which seeks to enable Muslim women to engage in football activities.
Under the partnership, the Qatar provided £20,000 to support the growth of Sisterhood FC. The fund will be used to cover the costs of football clothing, renting stadiums, developing outreach programmes, and communication to raise awareness about the organisation among Muslim girls from all over the UK, and to increase their involvement in football.
Qatar's ambassador to UK Fahd bin Mohamed al-Attiyah attended a friendly football match between the embassy staff team and the organisation's team, in the presence of diplomatic staff, local employees, organisation members, media representatives, as well as Qatari students residing in London.
Various sports activities were held at the Westway Sports Center, including climbing, tennis, table tennis, volleyball and yoga.
The embassy also sponsored the annual Battersea Park Marathon for a distance of five and 10 kilometres, with the participation of more than 500 runners.
In Beijing, Qatar's embassy in China organised a sporting event on the occasion of the country's NSD in the Olympic Green in Chaoyang district, with the participation of Qatar's ambassador Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Dehaimi, diplomats and staff.
The event included a variety of sports activities, including football matches, table tennis, running, and others.
In Canberra, the Qatar's embassy in Australia organised a sporting event with the participation of Qatar's ambassador Saad bin Abdullah al-Mahmoud, diplomats and local staff. The event included various sports activities.
In Seoul, Qatar's embassy in Korea organised a sporting event, with the participation of Qatar's ambassador Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Hamer, diplomats and embassy staff, as well as ambassadors and diplomats from sisterly Arab embassies in Korea. The event, which was held in the multi-sports hall in Dongjak district, featured various sports activities, including volleyball and table tennis.
In Tashkent, Qatar's embassy in Uzbekistan organised a sporting event, with the participation of Qatar's ambassador Hassan bin Hamza Hashim and the embassy staff.
In Vienna, Qatar's embassy in Austria and the Permanent Mission of Qatar to the United Nations and international organisations in Vienna held a sporting event, in a sports centre in the Austrian capital, with the participation of diplomats and the embassy staff. Acting Charge d'Affaires at the embassy Jamal bin Abdul Rahman al-Jaber, said in a speech on this occasion that the NSD confirms the State's keenness to encourage healthy lifestyles within society.
In Spain, the Consulate General of Qatar in Barcelona organised a sporting event, with the participation of Consul-General of Qatar in Barcelona Mohamed bin Sami al-Subaey, diplomats, local staff and their families. The event included a football match.
In Manila, Qatar's embassy in Philippines held a sporting event, with the participation of Acting Charge d'Affaires Mohamed bin Yousef al-Malki and Second Secretary at the embassy Hassan Muhanna al-Ajmi, in addition to local employees. The event included various sports activities such as football, volleyball, games and entertainment competitions.
In Tehran, Qatar's embassy in Iran held a sporting event, with the participation of diplomats and employees.
In The Hague, Qatar's embassy in Netherlands organised a sporting event on the occasion. In a speech on the occasion, Acting Charge d'Affaires Hanadi
al-Shafei highlighted Qatar's pioneering announcement of a National Sport Day to stress the importance of sport and its role in the lives of individuals and societies.
