Ashghal announces Zeeenah initiative winners

The organising committee for the Zeeenah initiative has announced the winners of the celebratory activities for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, according to a statement from the Public Works Authority (Ashghal).The initiative recognised individuals, businesses, schools, and government entities that have worked to beautify and decorate the facades of workplaces, schools, universities and real estate, in addition to squares, roads and other public services ahead of and during the World Cup.The winners of various categories of educational institutions, in the order of first (QR40,000 cash prize), second (QR30,000) and third (QR20,000), respectively, are:

• Kindergartens – Hetteen Model Kindergarten for boys, Al Safeer International Kindergarten, Al salam Kindergarten for Girls.
• Primary schools – Ali Bin Abdulla Model School for Boys, Saad Bin Abi Waqas Model School for Boys, Abdulla Bin Alzubair Model School for Boys.
• Preparatory schools – Barzan Preparatory School for Girls, Amna Bint Wahab Preparatory School for Girls, Ruqyya Preparatory School for Girls.
• Secondary schools – Ramla Bint Abi Sufyan Secondary School for Girls, Qatar Banking Studies Secondary School, Abdul Rahman Bin Auf Secondary School.
• Co-educational schools – GEMS American Academy, Arab International Academy, Nord Anglia International School.
• In the Universities category, Lusail University won the first prize (winning QR60,000) while University of Doha for Science and Technology came second (QR50,000) and Qatar University's College of Engineering came third (QR40,000).

In the Municipalities category, Al Rayyan Municipality, Doha Municipality and Al Daayen Municipality won the top three prizes while in the Government and Private Entities category (Low-rise Buildings), Tameer Real Estate, Frames Beauty Centre and Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) Al-Hilal Building secured the top three positions.In the Medium-rise Buildings category, General Takaful Company, Kahramaa Abu Hamour Building, and Al Darwish United Company won the top three prizes, while the Qatar Insurance Group, Kahramaa Headquarters and the Qatar Media Corporation won the prizes in the High-rise Buildings category.In the Banks category, Commercial Bank, Mashreq Bank and Ahli Bank won the top three prizes, while in Malls category, Hayat Plaza, Pari Gallery and Royal Plaza secured the first three positions.The embassies of Afghanistan and Ecuador won the prizes in the Embassies category.In the Urban Areas Development category, the United Development Company won the first prize.Ooredoo and the Seashore Group are the co-sponsors of the Zeeenah initiative.While announcing the winners, engineer Mohamed Arqoub al-Khaldi, chairman of the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar and the Initiative’s Organising Committee, said the committee had an effective role in achieving the dream of Qatar hosting an exceptional edition of the World Cup.Khaled al-Suwaidi, stakeholders relations director in the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) and vice-chairman of the Organising Committee, said that the Zeeenah initiative was able to create more enthusiasm and excitement for the most prominent football event.Huda al-Saadi, manager of Visual Arts Centre Department at the Ministry of Culture, said: "The Zeeenah initiative has proven that the World Cup is not limited to the participating stadiums and teams only but rather it is a culture and legacy that we are proud of having contributed to highlighting and promoting in a way that befits the status of Qatar."Dr Fayqa Ashkanani, manager of Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Municipality, said the co-operation with the organising committee of the Zeeenah initiative during World Cup activities came within the ministry’s keenness to support and promote societal partnership with different entities and civil society organisations in Qatar.Ali Jassim al-Kuwari, director of Schools and Education Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE), said the organisers are proud of the role played by schools and universities in Qatar's hosting of the World Cup.Abdulrahman al-Ishaq, director of the Public Art Department at the Qatar Museums Authority, said that the Zeeenah initiative was able to prove the extent to which sport is linked to art.Affan al-Shamlan, director of Studies and Development Department at the Central Municipal Council, said the success achieved by the initiative is a success for all its partners as it is the result of the efforts exerted during the past months.
