The 5th Katara Boxing Championships concluded in the presence of Sheikh Fahd bin Khalid al-Thani, President of the Qatar Boxing Federation (QBF), and Sultan Hassan al-Jamali, Secretary-General, QBF, with a prize distribution ceremony. The championships featured 108 participants from several clubs. During the prize distribution ceremony, a large number of sports personalities and officials from Katara were present.The boxing season has started with the Katara Boxing Championships. This will be followed by the boxing competition for the Beach Games next March, which will be organised by the Qatar Olympic Committee, the QBF president said. "In April, there will be the Qatar Junior and School Championship followed by the Qatar Tour,” the QBF president said. "We want to see the young boxers get to learn while they compete and improve their skills. These tournaments always receive great interest from all players in Qatar. The number of participants increases from year to year. We are very pleased about that,” he said.The Deputy General Director, Saif al-Dosari, was honoured along with Major General Khalifa Mubarak al-Khulaifi, the former president, QBF, Saud Aziz al-Shammari, Mohamed Yousef al-Muhammadi, an international referee, and an Olympic figure in boxing from Kazakhstan Mukhtarkhan Dildabekov.The preliminary rounds were held on Feb 16 and semi-finals on Feb 17.The final round and prize giving was held on Feb 18th.
