The Kuwait-Qatar relationship is deep-rooted on all levels and the two brotherly countries enjoy common interests, the ambassador of Kuwait to Qatar Khalid Badr al-Mutairi stated Wednesday. He was addressing a ceremony in Doha to mark the 62nd anniversary of Kuwait National Day and the 32nd anniversary of the Liberation Day. Senior Qatari and Kuwaiti officials, several heads of diplomatic missions, and a number of other dignitaries were present.
HE Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad bin Abdullah al-Thani, HE the Shura Council Speaker Hassan bin Abdulla al-Ghanem, HE the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Ghanem bin Shaheen al-Ghanem, HE the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Sheikh Dr Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali al-Thani, HE the Minister of Communication and Information Technology Mohamed bin Ali bin Mohamed al- Mannai, HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Protocol Department director Ibrahim Fakhro and Alfardan Group chairman Hussain Ibrahim Alfardan were among the dignitaries.
Thanking all the attendees, ambassador al-Mutairi stressed that the great efforts and endeavours of the ancestors should be remembered and appreciated, as these have led to the current prosperity and welfare enjoyed by the Kuwaiti people. The envoy pointed out that Kuwait has always been known for its promotion for peace and peaceful resolutions for conflicts and it was a founding member of the GCC council aiming at maintaining the safety and security of all the GCC countries. He also expressed his appreciation for Qatar and its people and the effective role played by Qatar alongside other friends and brothers in liberating Kuwait in 1991.
Ambassador al-Mutairi said Qatar and Kuwait share the same approaches and efforts in promoting regional and international peace and both have been exerting great efforts in the relief efforts for the victims of the recent earthquake in Turkiye and Syria. Kuwait will always remain committed to promote peace and help others in their difficult times, he added while congratulating Qatar for the amazing success of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, appreciating the huge efforts exerted by the country ahead and during the global event.
