The Ministry of Culture, represented by Qatari Publishers and Distributors Forum and Qatar University Press (QU Press), has unveiled details of the Qatar University Book Fair 2023 to be held from February 28 to March 5 at the Qatar University’s new Student Affairs building, under the auspices of the ministry’s Libraries Department.
The organisers announced yesterday the exhibition's objectives and activities with a brief presentation on the most important activities, workshops, and book launches to take place during the exhibition.
Director of the Libraries Department director and the Doha International Book Fair, Jassim al-Buainain, noted the importance of specialised local exhibitions as an extension of the Doha International Book Fair, and stressed their role in supporting the Qatari publishing sector.
He added that the ministry's most prominent publications will be highlighted through its pavilion at the Qatar University Book Fair.
Director of Activities and Events at the Qatari Publishers and Distributors Forum, Amna Abu Qarja, praised efforts by the participants and collaborators to make the exhibition a success and invited members of the public to visit the exhibition.
She noted the exhibition's important role in providing an opportunity for students and visitors from different disciplines and interests, and presenting a suitable environment for exchanging visions and putting forward ideas in line with the nature of the Qatari society.
Director of QU Press, Dr Fatima al-Suwaidi, stated that the publishing house will launch, through the exhibition, its new publications along with those from Qatari publishing houses.
QU Media and Publishing Department head Khawla Mortazavi said that the exhibition is the result of concerted efforts between the QU, QU Press and the Forum.
