The Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre (Fanar) at the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs recently organised an Umrah trip for 50 reverts. The reverts, who hail from African and Asian countries, were accompanied by preachers from Fanar, according to an official Awqaf statement.The trip came within the framework of Fanar’s efforts to enhance their faith and spiritual aspects while strengthening the bonds of religion. It also aimed at teaching them the rituals of Umrah in a practical way by visiting the holy lands, getting a first-hand experience about the rituals and mixing with the Muslim community of all nationalities and languages during the pilgrimage. The pilgrims were prepared and educated before their travel to familiarise them with the rituals of Umrah.The trip included holding educational faith lessons related to the etiquette of travel and performing the Umrah rituals in addition to guidance sessions that shed light on the etiquette of Islam in daily life which enhances commitment to Islamic values ​​in all aspects of life. The pilgrims visited ‘Prophetic Sunnah Exhibition’ which presents a rich and diverse presentation of the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Also, they visited ‘Cave of Hira’ in Jabal Al-Nour, an important historical site in Prophet’s life.Dr Saleh bin Ali al-Marri, director of Fanar, said following the reverts is a top priority for the centre. “The Umrah trip is a valuable opportunity for new converts to learn and connect with Islamic religious roots in a deep and inspiring way. This enhances their spiritual experience and instils in them tolerant Islamic values, “ he said adding that the centre provides comprehensive follow-up that includes cognitive and social faith awareness. “This is to ensure that the reverts remain steadfast in the values ​​of Islam according to a moderate approach. The trip included a visit to Madinah, prayers at the Quba Mosque and prayers at the Prophet’s Mosque.
