HE the President of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority (ACTA), Hamad bin Nasser al-Misnad, affirmed that Qatar, since its accession to the UN Convention against Corruption in 2006, has worked to implement all the provisions of the agreement, whether in relation to legal aspects or regulatory issues.
In a statement to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), on the sidelines of the parliamentary dialogue of the Global Organisation of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC) 2023, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the UN Convention against corruption, HE al-Misnad pointed out that corruption crimes are the ones that exist throughout history, indicating that in light of the world's development at all levels and in all fields, it has become necessary to have international co-operation to combat and address this phenomenon.
HE al-Misnad indicated that the parliamentary bodies must have a role in keeping pace with and limiting corruption crimes, through legislations issued by parliaments and legislative bodies in countries, and through public oversight or what is called parliamentary oversight. (QNA)
