HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani held Friday a telephone call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
During the call, they discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to support and develop them.
HE Sheikh Mohammed expressed in the phone the State of Qatar's welcoming of the trilateral statement from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the People's Republic of China, on resuming diplomatic ties between Saudi Arabia and Iran, and re-opening their embassies and representatives in a maximum period of two months, in addition to activating Security Cooperation Agreement, and the General Agreement for Cooperation in the Fields of Economy, Trade, Investment, Technology, Science, Culture, Sports, and Youth.
HE Sheikh Mohammed also expressed Qatar's aspiration that this step will contribute to enhancing security and stability in the region, and meeting the aspirations of the peoples of the two countries, for the benefit of all the peoples of the region.
For his part, Dr. Hossein congratulated HE Sheikh Mohammed on his appointment as Prime Minister.
