HE Director-General of Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) Khalifa bin Jassim al-Kuwari said Qatar’s Hosting of the 5th UN Conference of the Least Developed Countries (LDC5) is an embodiment of its role and long history in development and supporting the least developed countries (LDCs).
“The role of Qatar in supporting LDCs and the great efforts it has made in the field of development and humanitarian relief, is no secret to anyone,” he told QNA, pointing to the great support provided by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, at the beginning of the conference, where His Highness announced the provision of $60mn in support of LDC5, 10mn of which were for the follow-up on the Doha Programme of Action (DPoA) and 50mn for the outputs of this conference.
He explained that QFFD is Qatar’s main tool for implementing the international development policies, highlighting that the fund will have an important role in following up on the outcomes of LDC5, as it will carry out many projects related to poverty eradication, food security and technology.
