The headquarters of the Central Municipal Council (CMC) has undergone comprehensive renovation, chairman Mohamed Hammoud al-Shafi told local Arabic daily Arrayah. All the main and subsidiary meeting halls have been equipped with the latest technology and systems for holding various meetings of the council.
All the safety and security systems were upgraded and a number of emergency exits and entry points added to the building. Al-Shafi pointed out that space around the building was used entirely to increasing the number of parking lots, especially a good number of them shaded. “This building is considered among the heritage buildings of Doha and it was previously used as a headquarters for the central post. Besides, the CMC is considered the first house of democracy in the country, as it is considered the meeting point and communication link among the officials and the citizens with the CMC members conveying the voice of the people directly to the officials.”
