Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) and Seashore Group signed yesterday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to build partnership, capitalise on their expertise and resources towards a sustainable and effective response to their respective humanitarian activities, and to launch awareness programmes for expatriate workers on safety, security, and protection outside Doha.
The agreement was signed by Faisal Mohamed al-Emadi, acting secretary-general of QRCS, and Salem Saeed al-Mohannadi, CEO of Seashore Group.
The signing ceremony was attended by Hussein Aman al-Ali, director of Volunteering and Local Development Division at QRCS, Mohamed Rashid al-Mari, director of Communication and Public Relations, and Manal Issa al-Fahaid, partner relations consultant.
Praising the strategic role of Seashore Group locally, al-Emadi said: "This agreement reflects the importance attached by the two parties to community awareness-raising and carrying out programmes to promote human rights in Qatar something that serves the humanitarian goals and mission of QRCS."
He added that partnership is a cornerstone of QRCS' strategy to achieve its long-term humanitarian, development goals and to mobilise support from various sectors/organisations to improve the living standard of vulnerable people, especially in community awareness and education, and inspired by its slogan "Saving Lives and Preserving Dignity".
Al-Mohannadi said the agreement aimed to strengthen partnership with QRCS, launch safety and security awareness programmes for workers, and to develop innovative programmes to serve many beneficiaries.
The agreement establishes the legal framework for co-ordination mechanisms between the two parties, in pursuit of human development goals of Qatar National Vision 2030, and by enforcing the role of corporate social responsibility (CSR) to address humanitarian causes and awareness initiatives executed by QRCS.
