Qatar Charity (QC) has renewed a co-operation and partnership agreement with LuLu Hypermarket Qatar. Under the agreement, LuLu will remain a member of QC’s Charity Partner (CP) programme, and will also support Qatar Charity’s ‘Ramadan: Leave Your Mark’ campaign through its ‘Shop & Donate’ initiative. LuLu was awarded the ‘CP’ trademark in the silver category under the agreement, QC said in a statement.
The agreement was signed by Ahmad Yousef Fakhroo, CEO’s assistant for the Resources Development and Media Sector at Qatar Charity, and Shanavas Padiyath, regional manager of LuLu Hypermarket Qatar. The renewed agreement comes as part of Qatar Charity’s commitment to providing the necessary aid and support to the target groups. It is part of LuLu Hypermarket Qatar’s endeavour to support humanitarian work as a duty towards the community, the statement notes.
Under the agreement, LuLu Hypermarket Qatar will promote the ‘CP’ programme and draw the attention of companies and establishments, through its available marketing methods, towards the programme. According to the pact, LuLu Hypermarket Qatar will donate a sum of money collected through ‘Shop & Donate’, an initiative that is launched by LuLu during Ramadan, and which encompasses more than 800 items for shopping this holy month. The share will go to Qatar Charity.
LuLu Hypermarket has recently donated toys for orphans and earthquake-affected children in Turkiye and Syria, the QC statement added.
On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, Fakhroo thanked LuLu Hypermarket Qatar for renewing the agreement. He said LuLu Hypermarket has been a strategic humanitarian partner of Qatar Charity for years and has contributed to the implementation of many humanitarian and charitable activities.
Fakhroo also called on all commercial establishments and companies to join Qatar Charity’s ‘CP’ programme to discharge their social responsibility towards the community and support humanitarian and charitable projects, especially in the holy month to provide a helping hand to those in need around the world. “We are committed to fulfilling our corporate social responsibility (CSR) by actively participating in social responsibility programs in collaboration with Qatar Charity, based on the values of solidarity and co-operation between organisations and the community,” said Shanavas, emphasising the company’s dedication to playing a significant role in promoting social welfare.
Over six years, LuLu Hypermarket Qatar and QC have signed several co-operation agreements. The first agreement allows customers to donate changes when paying their purchase bills at LuLu Hypermarket outlets to support charitable projects both within and outside Qatar.
The second agreement promotes Qatar Charity’s Khair Cards, while the third agreement involves collaboration under the ‘Shop & Donate’ initiative, in addition to the ‘CP’ agreement.
