Advisor to the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Majed bin Mohammed al-Ansari said that the repeated visits of Qatari officials to Tehran are within Qatar's efforts to bridge views and submit proposals between the West and Iran on the nuclear file.
During the weekly media briefing, al-Ansari hoped that these efforts will yield a positive result.
Highlighting that Qatar has facilitated rapprochement between the West and Iran, hosting indirect negotiations between the two parties, and facilitating European mediation, he stressed that this role will continue at the same pace in pursuit of the nuclear agreement.
Regarding Qatar's reception of the Rwandan dissident Paul Rusesabagina, Dr al- Ansari said Qatar made extensive efforts for Rwanda to accept the mercy petition submitted by Rusesabagina and his companions. "As a result the Rwandan government decided to consider this request positively , and the dissident arrived in Doha, and he is waiting to travel to join his family in the American city of Houston."
