Public parks and gardens around the country have been receiving an increasing number of visitors during the holy month of Ramadan, especially in the period just before Iftar.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah reports that many people prefer to exercise and walk at these parks as the weather improves and the temperature drops before sunset.
Most can be seen walking, jogging or exercising using the sports equipment available there.
In particular, Umm Al Seneem Park, which was opened in November last year, has become a favourite destination for people living in the surrounding areas.
The park has an air-conditioned walking track stretching 1,143m and other facilities, including dedicated kids' play areas.
Speaking to the daily, a number of the visitors stressed that the place encourages them to be active and enjoy their time before Iftar, with the good weather conditions encouraging them to visit the park and engage in some physical activity.
Visitor Amer al-Humaidi said that the park has been adequately equipped to cater to the needs of every visitor, and people can practise individual or group activities there such as walking and cycling.
He added that the holy month of Ramadan is a good opportunity to engage in sport and adopt a healthier lifestyle.
Saleh al-Dakhil said that such public parks and gardens are excellent places for families to go out and enjoy their time while adopting a healthy lifestyle and simultaneously improving their mood.
He added that parents should set an example for their children and bring them to parks and spend quality family time.
Abdulla Hussain pointed out that elderly people who are fasting should take extra care when engaging in physical activity before Iftar, and should consult their healthcare providers to avoid any problems.
However, he stressed that he thinks that engaging in sport in open areas such as Umm Al Seneem Park is generally a positive thing.
Marwan Naji said that the opening of more public parks in different areas has made it easier for everybody to access such facilities and encouraged him to engage in sports on a daily basis.
Nasser al-Marri suggested that the authorities concerned should hold various sports activities and events at public parks to spread the culture of sports and encourage people to adopt an active lifestyle.
