A wide range of activities and attractions has been lined up for Garangao celebrations at different locations in Qatar.Souqs and hypermarkets have also been busy in the run-up to Garangao as families gathered to purchase goodies for the occasion, a traditional celebration that coincides with the 14th night of Ramadan.Garangao is considered one of the most important Ramadan occasions in Qatar, when children knock on doors and collect nuts and sweets around their neighbourhood. Various public and private entities also organise big Garangao celebrations.Qatar Tourism, in collaboration with the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar, Qatar Airways and Ooredoo, will hold a Garangao Cultural Activation at the Corniche Plaza Wednesday event.A range of free activities will be available, from stage performances to art and design workshops. Families can enjoy a host of activities that educate and entertain their kids. Starting at 8pm, there will be puppet shows, quizzes with prizes, a fashion show and prizes for the best girl and boy Garangao outfit.Families and children can also head to Al Shaqab Village, which is hosting the Garangao Night Wednesday in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture.The Garangao celebrations will take place from 8.30pm until midnight, marked by an evening filled with fun heritage activities, including a competition for the best Garangao Night dress for children, a fashion show, lantern workshops, traditional games, Sadu weaving, and many more interesting and exciting activities.Msheireb Downtown Doha is also gearing up to celebrate Garangao on the evenings of April 5 and 6, featuring several events and activations.The Garangao celebrations will be held from 7.30pm to 8.30pm with a unique experience for children on board the Msheireb Tram, taking a tour of the city’s neighbourhoods and streets and receiving sweets and treats.At Qatar Foundation's Education City, a special edition of Ramadan Nights will celebrate Garangao night Wednesday from 8pm at Oxygen Park. Children will get the opportunity to collect nuts and bags of sweets as part of the Ramadan customs and traditions.Meanwhile, Doha Fire Station is set to host its first Garangao night Tuesday. The activities include painting on tote bags, distributing sweets, henna and more for people of all ages.The event, taking place at the Plaza, Fire Station, from 8-11pm Tuesday, is sponsored by Qatar Financial Centre.Lusail Boulevard, which has emerged as a favourite destination among the people of Qatar, will also host its first Garangao celebrations Wednesday. Running from 9pm until midnight, the event will see the distribution of gifts among visitors.
