The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has carried out maintenance operations on the aids to navigation (AToNs) along coasts and waterways in Qatar in co-operation with Mwani Qatar. This, according to an official MoT press statement, was done by using the company’s advanced fleet and taking advantage of the long-standing experience of its AToNs team, which aims to provide more efficient and sustainable marine services. The number of AToNs, buoys and navigation beacons maintained or installed from the beginning of 2022 through March 31, 2023, has reached 117.
AToNs are regularly inspected and maintained to ensure best performance in accordance with universal standards and specifications and to identify the safe sailing locations for enhanced safe maritime navigation factors. These efforts come in the context of MoT’s plans that aim at ensuring safe, effective traffic for all vessels on Qatari waters in such a way that protects life and property.
