The Ministry of Sports and Youth and Qatar Charity celebrated on Monday the graduation of 20 young men and women who participated in the Fazaa Al Adaam Youth programme, which seeks to prepare youth leaders in the field of humanitarian and development work, at a ceremony that brought together HE Minister of Sports and Youth Salah bin Ghanem al-Ali, CEO of Qatar Charity Yousef bin Ahmed al-Kuwari and US ambassador to Qatar Timmy Davis.
The first edition of the programme sought to train and provide 20 young men and women with the foundations and standards of humanitarian and development work locally and internationally, through an integrated training programme that included 16 training workshops. The programme focused on informing the participants about the experiences of managing humanitarian work, by organising a trip to Kosovo in co-ordination with the Qatar Charity office in the capital, Pristina, to see the efforts made by Qatar and its charitable institutions in helping vulnerable groups, providing their basic needs, and visiting the places that have been provided for them as well as the institutions.
The programme also touched on the methods of preparing and planning humanitarian projects. The programme ended with distribution of the participants to a number of teams, and assigning each team to prepare an integrated and applicable project in one of the areas of humanitarian work.
