Festivities, joy and processions marked the Garangao celebrations by Katara - the Cultural Village on Wednesday. In colourful attire, kids marched through the quaint alleys while singing Garangao songs.
The celebrations were a part of Katara's Ramadan activities within the framework of its continuous endeavor to consolidate the customs associated with the Qatari heritage. Also, it aimed at introducing younger generations to the popular heritage and traditions in the holy month while enhancing love, compassion, giving and familiarity.
Hundreds of families thronged Katara after Iftar while taking part in the celebrations under the Ramadan decors and bright and sparkling lights. The children received gift bags with sweets and nuts.
Many parents expressed their overwhelming happiness with Katara's celebration of the Garangao night. They noted that the celebrations encourage the kids to complete fasting during the second half of Ramadan.
