HE the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Sheikh Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali al-Thani has carried out an inspection visit to Hamad Port.
He followed up the role of the Department of Radiation Protection and the Department of Chemicals and Hazardous Waste in monitoring the Customs cargoes from abroad. HE Dr Faleh reviewed a presentation by the two departments that included a detailed explanation of the clearance and control procedures in addition to the examination of the cargoes to ensure the highest level of efficiency and professionalism. There is a system of gates that detects hazardous and radiation materials when they pass through them. This achieves the highest levels of radiation safety and security in Qatar. HE the Minister also toured the laboratories at the port to review their readiness and the sophisticated equipment. The tour was concluded with a field visit of the Customs inspection platforms, where the minister reviewed the procedures. At the end of the visit HE Dr Faleh highly appreciated exerted by the Customs officials and employees in maintaining radiation safety in country and protecting against the hazardous materials.
