Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) has launched a series of initiatives as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, in collaboration with Qatar Charity and Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs (QSRSN), to support the local community during the holy month of Ramadan.

QIB is sponsoring the ‘Feeding the Fasting’ Ramadan project, in co-operation with Qatar Charity, as part of its ‘Leave your Mark’ campaign.

Held in the Al Rayan tent, the campaign is targeting workers and community gatherings by providing daily Iftar meals for up to 400 persons, which will culminate in a total of 12,000 persons during Ramadan.

Around 400 people gather daily to break their fast at the Al-Rayan table, the majority of whom are workers from the surrounding areas.

Qatar Charity’s Iftar programme for Ramadan includes a religious sermon in Asian languages to accommodate the attendees, most of whom are from these communities.

Sheikh Mashhad al-Rahman delivers a religious sermon almost daily in Urdu and Bengali, discussing the virtues of Ramadan, fasting, and reciting the Holy Qur'an during the holy month.

QIB has also demonstrated its commitment to corporate social responsibility by sponsoring a range of Ramadan activities in partnership with QSRSN. These include Iftars, Garangao celebrations, and empowering workshops aimed at supporting people with special needs.

In addition to these initiatives, QIB is leading several campaigns designed to promote healthy habits among employees, customers, and the wider community.

Mashaal Abdulaziz al-Derham, assistant general manager, head of Corporate Communications & Quality Assurance at QIB has reiterated the bank’s commitment to supporting charitable initiatives that align with their philosophy of making a positive impact on people’s lives.

“We are proud to be contributing to our local community which reflects QIB’s adherence to Islamic values and Qatari traditions of social solidarity. It is our responsibility as a leading Islamic bank to support different social segments and install the values and essence of Ramadan through acts of generosity. These initiatives come in line with our longstanding commitment towards supporting the local community,” said al-Derham.

Abdul Rahman Mohamad al-Hajri, director of Programmes and Community Development Department at Qatar Charity, said: “We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to QIB for generously sponsoring our campaign to feed hundreds of people throughout the month of Ramadan."

Amir al-Mulla, CEO of QSRSN, said: “We are immensely grateful to QIB for their generous sponsorship of our Ramadan activities, which have helped to create a truly inclusive and meaningful experience for all members of the community, including those with special needs. Their commitment to social responsibility is an inspiration to us all.”
