With an intention to raise awareness of fire safety among the parents, students and staff of schools, the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of Civil Defence conducted an online session.
Lt Sabah Mordhi Altoumi, Officer, Fire Prevention Department, General Directorate of Civil Defence, in his keynote address, accentuated the importance of following fire safety measures by everyone at home and at the workplace.
Imaam Abdul Salam, the trainer, with the aid of presentation slides explained in detail various topics on the safe use of electricity at home, appropriate places for keeping gas cylinders and effective ways of using them while cooking, the dos and don’ts of handling electricity and electrical appliances, general as well as specific hands-on tips and guidelines during emergency arising out of a fire breaking out.
Various expatriate schools including MES Indian School participated in the webinar.
Earlier, MES vice principal Mohammed Illias, in his felicitation remarks thanked the MoI officials for the initiatives in creating awareness among the general public towards fire safety.
There was also a quiz contest based on the presentation and conducted by the host of the webinar, Faisal Hudawi, public relations officer, Community Reach-Out, MoI at the end of the event.
A total of 20 winners of the quiz competition from participating schools were awarded gifts.
