The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has called upon Qatari nationals to register their names on voter lists ahead of the seventh Central Municipal Council (CMC) elections due on June 22, the official Qatar News Agency reports.
The voter registration phase will start on Sunday, April 30, and continue until Thursday, May 4, the MoI said in a statement on Thursday.
Voters can register their names in person at the polling stations from 4pm until 7pm or online via the Metrash2 app around the clock, the statement noted.
The statement stipulated the following conditions for eligible voters:

* They must have original Qatari nationality or have obtained it more than 15 years ago
* They must be above 18 years of age on May 4, 2023
* They have not been previously convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude or dishonesty, unless they have been rehabilitated
* They must be residing in the constituency where they have the right to vote
* They must not be working with the armed forces or the police

Citizens should proceed with the registration procedures themselves in their constituencies, according to their residential address on their IDs, or via the Metrash2 app. They are not allowed to register in more than one constituency.
Those who have previously been registered have the right to move to another constituency, according to their current actual residence.
According to the CMC election timetable, the preliminary voter lists will be announced at the polling stations, while the window for addressing grievances and appeals against these lists will open on Sunday, May 7.
Chairman of the Supervisory Committee for the CMC elections, Major-General Majid Ibrahim al-Khulaifi, recently announced the completion of all preparations for the polls, starting with the voter registration phase. The CMC elections website has also been duly updated.
The committee, in co-operation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, has chosen a number of public schools as polling stations in constituencies around the country.
Meanwhile, attending a special programme on Qatar TV Wednesday, Khalifa Mohamed al-Khayarin, director of the Technical Affairs Department at Al Rayyan Municipality, explained the conditions that must be met by candidates while placing campaign advertisements and hoardings for the June 22 elections.
Campaigning is scheduled to begin on June 11 and continue until the day preceding the voting date.
Al-Khayarin stressed that the campaign ads of candidates should not offend others.
The campaign ads should be placed through an authorised advertising company that has the necessary licences and should be done through approved platforms.
A candidate has to obtain the candidacy registration and a letter of nomination from the Supervisory Committee.
The campaign material and activities should not cause tribal strife, he added.
Mohamed al-Emadi, head of the Advertising Unit at Doha Municipality, said the Ministry of Municipality is the authority responsible for issuing advertisement permits to candidates for the CMC elections, in co-operation with the Supervisory Committee.
Al-Emadi explained that candidates have the right to choose the location of their electoral advertisements, provided they comply with the requirements of the relevant municipality.
