Hamad General Hospital's Orthopaedic Surgery Department will start new evening clinics at the Bone and Joint Centre from Sunday, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has said in a statement.
The department will offer appointments from 3pm to 7pm, Sunday to Wednesday, to cater to the growing demand for orthopaedic care in Qatar.
The evening clinics will mainly serve new patients, post-operative cases, post-MRI patients, fracture and urgent cases. Follow-up appointments will not be accepted in the evening and will only be scheduled in the morning.
These new clinics will provide additional capacity to care for patients and reduce wait times for appointments and comes following the start of evening clinics at the Ambulatory Care Centre on May 1 for ophthalmology, ear, nose and throat, urology, and audiology.
The Bone and Joint Centre will run 22 new evening clinics, with four assigned as 'Screening Clinics' to accommodate fractures and general orthopaedic cases. The clinics will cover all subspecialties in the orthopaedic service, including spine, hip, knee, shoulder and elbow, hand, orthopaedic oncology, paediatric orthopaedic, foot and ankle, and trauma.
The establishment of these new evening clinics reflects the department's commitment to providing quality orthopaedic care to patients. This initiative will reduce waiting times, improve patient satisfaction, and enable patients to attend appointments at more convenient times, the statement notes.
HMC has reminded patients to take advantage of the Nesma'ak customer service helpline, 16060, which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, whereby upcoming appointments can be managed at HMC facilities, whether by booking an appointment in advance, changing or cancelling appointments.
