The Philippine embassy in Qatar has congratulated Romil Abule and Michelle Butiu for their Guinness World Records titles – “Fastest Crossing of Qatar on Foot (male and female)”.
Abule set the record on October 20, 2022 in one day, eight hours and 59 minutes, breaking Sadok Kochbati's record of one day, 10 hours, 19 minutes, and 18 seconds on February 4, 2022.
Butiu set the record on April 6, 2023 in one day, six hours, 23 minutes and 42 seconds, breaking Sufiya Sufi Runner’s record of one day, six hours, and 31 minutes on January 12 and 13, 2023.
“The embassy commends their great performance and representation of the Filipino community in Qatar,” the embassy posted on its Facebook page. “Romil and Michelle's historic milestone is a source of immense pride to our ‘Kababayans’ not just in Qatar, but around the globe.”
“Congratulations to our new title holders and best wishes to their future endeavours,” the embassy added.
