Urdu literary organisation, Bazm e Urdu Qatar (established in 1959), organised a poetry festival titled 'Ek Shaam Sukhanwaraan e Kuwait Ke Naam', dedicated to Kuwait’s Urdu poets.
Bazm chief patron Hassan Chougule presided at the event which featured poets from Qatar and Kuwait. Liyaqat Ali Butt was the chief guest and Masood Hassas and Badr Seemab were guests of honour. Ibrahim Khan Kamal, Khalid Dad Khan, Shahabuddin Ahmad, Professor Syed Jawed Zaidi, Dr. Sikandar Aftab, Zarrar bin Khalid, Tanweer Ahmad, Jawed Ahmad, Shafqat Nabi, Ubaid Tahir, Shahid Khan, Gauhar Altaf, Qamruzzaman Bhatti, Mahfooz Ali, Leyaqat Malik, Sabahuddin, Irfanullah Adeel Waris, Azizur Rahman, Mamnoon Bangash and Zarrar Ahmad were present.
Bazm president Ejaz Haider welcomed the gathering and presented a paper about the organisation. General secretary Ahmed Ashfaq was the in-charge for the event, which started with the recitation of the Holy Qur'an by Qari Saifur Rahman.
Two new books were released. Kaasa’e Dil was written by Dr Mansoor Khushtar. The other book, a directory of the poets of Samastipur, Bihar, was compiled by Dr Bismal Arifi and Ahmed Ashfaque.
Poets Masood Hassas, Badar Seemab, Ateeq Anzer, Aziz Nabeel, Nadeem Mahir, Ahmad Ashfaque, Ejaz Haider, Qaiser Masood,Mansur Azmi, Zawwar Hussain Zair, Dr Nadeem Jeelani Danish, Ashfaque Deshmukh, Athar Azmi, Rana Anwar Ali, Sanwal Abbasi, Raza Hussain Raza and Ittefaque Anmol participated.
