Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi has praised the diplomatic efforts of Qatar and its great role in reaching a ceasefire between the Israeli and Palestinian sides.
"The Qatari diplomacy was able to deal with many international and regional issues, seeking to resolve them through peaceful means," the GCC Secretary-General said.
The Secretary-General reiterated the position of the GCC countries, which calls for the need to speed up a just, comprehensive and lasting solution to the conflict, based on the principles of international law and the Arab Peace Initiative, and on the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to establish an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Al Quds as its capital.
On Saturday, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani held a phone call with Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry.
During the call, they discussed bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries, the recent escalation in the Palestinian territories, and the Egyptian efforts towards de-escalation.
HE the Prime Minister expressed, during the call, Qatar's condemnation of the Israeli bombardment of civilian facilities and homes in Gaza, and its welcome to the cease-fire agreement.
HE Sheikh Mohamed received a phone call from US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
During the call, they discussed bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries, the latest developments in Afghanistan, and the recent escalation in the Palestinian territories.
The two sides welcomed, during the call, a cease-fire agreement between the Palestinian and Israeli sides. HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs thanked the United States of America for its efforts that supported the regional endeavors to reach this agreement.
