Chiyoda Almana Engineering LLC, a leading engineering company providing services to oil and gas producers in Qatar, celebrated World Safety Day 2023 recently, with various activities to promote a safety culture and prevent workplace accidents.
The day began with a company-wide Safety Stand Down, which involved participation from management and employees across all operations, a statement said. The Safety Stand Down covered a range of topics, including Chiyoda Almana's events for World Safety Day 2023, HSE&S statistics, heat stress prevention, road and pedestrian safety, and safety alerts and reminders. In addition, the Chiyoda Corporation presentation on incident lessons learned was presented and affirmed the company's safety DNA. The day also included a message from the managing director.
The Loss Prevention team at Chiyoda Almana organised an online session where Tasmia Priyanka, senior loss prevention engineer, delivered a Process Safety Presentation to all employees. The presentation covered key topics such as hazard and loss of containment definitions, process safety management, and the impact of process safety incidents.
Another online session was conducted by Jamsheed Karumanikunnathu, senior project engineer, on behalf of the Project Management Team, where he presented on Project Safety Management. The presentation covered hazard identification and risk assessment, safety training and education, personal protective equipment, emergency preparedness, and workplace violence prevention.
Lotfi Ksila, senior safety officer of the Qatargas Project Management Department, delivered a presentation on Health and Safety Challenges and Potential Solutions in Engineering Projects.
Speaking on the event, Chiyoda Almana managing director Toshikazu Hirobe, highlighted the company's commitment to safety and the importance of such events in promoting a safe work environment. He also commended the efforts of all those who participated in the event, including employees and external guests.
