His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani patronised Tuesday the opening of the 2023 Qatar Economic Forum (QEF) - Powered by Bloomberg, being held over three days under the theme "A New Global Growth Story", at the Katara Towers: Fairmont and Raffles Hotels.
HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani, and Michael Bloomberg, the founder of Bloomberg LP and Bloomberg Philanthropies, made the opening addresses.
His Highness the Amir attended the inaugural panel discussion with the President of Rwanda Paul Kagame, and another panel discussion themed "The New Energy Model".
The opening was also attended by Paraguay President Mario Abdo Benitez, Armenia's President Vahagn Khachaturyan, Ghana's President Nana Akufo-Addo, Zanzibar President Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed, Kazakhstan Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
A number of ministers, representatives of sisterly and friendly countries, heads of the diplomatic missions accredited to the State, high-ranking policy-makers, parliamentarians, thinkers, economists, businessmen, media, and representatives of regional and international organisations were present.
Earlier in the day, His Highness the Amir in a tweet welcomed the participants of the third edition of Qatar Economic Forum, looking forward that the forum provides a scientific and practical contribution to the participants.
He described that the event discusses the latest trends in vital and promising economic sectors, and promotes cooperation and consultation between various countries for their development, looking forward that the forum provides a scientific and practical contribution to the participants and those interested.
On the sidelines of the QEF, His Highness the Amir met with the President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan, President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and discussed bilateral relations between the countries and ways to develop them in various fields, in addition to exchanging views on the most prominent topics on the forum's agenda.
On the sidelines of QEF, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani Tuesday received a verbal message from Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, pertaining to bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways of supporting and developing them. The message was conveyed by Kazakhstan Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov.
Also, on the sidelines of QEF, His Highness the Amir met with the founder of Bloomberg LP and Bloomberg Philanthropies, Michael Bloomberg and discussed several topics on the forum's agenda, especially those related to the economic field.
