Qatar Charity (QC) has launched a donation campaign to build and furnish the Sheikh Abdullah Al-Dabbagh Orphan Care Complex in Pemba Island in Tanzania. The complex worth QR 4.5mn is expected to benefit 2,300 people.
The project comes in memory of Sheikh Abdullah al-Dabbagh, a former chairman and co-founder of QC, who passed away on May 23, 2023. It aims to complete the journey of giving and achievements made by Sheikh al-Dabbagh since the beginning of the establishment of the Qatar Committee for Orphan Sponsor Project, later renamed QC.
The 8,094sqm complex will provide housing, education, and health services for 300 orphans who will be direct beneficiaries, in addition to benefiting the local community adjacent to the complex as indirect beneficiaries of the services of the integrated complex.
The project will consist of a dormitory that will include two buildings, each for orphaned boys and girls separately, and a health centre expected to benefit 3,000 people monthly, with specialised clinics for women and children, in addition to a pharmacy, a laboratory, and other facilities.
The complex will also include a school consisting of several classrooms, with a capacity of 320 students, a mosque, a multi-purpose hall, an integrated water station, sports fields, and an administrative building.
QC has urged philanthropists in Qatar to donate to the project to contribute to providing a dignified life for orphans and other vulnerable people in Tanzania.
People can also donate through QC’s website (www.qch.qa/AAD) and app (qch.qa/q/app), in addition to dialing hotline 44290000 for donating. Donations can also be made at QC's collection points across the country.
