Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) is distributing food coupons to poor families in Gaza, a statement said Tuesday.
Over the past three months, 1,995 families benefited from the 'Distributing Food Parcels to Poor Families Affected by War in Gaza' project in all governorates of Gaza, at a total cost of $360,000.
“For over five months now, my fridge has been empty,” said Umm Samir (63), a beneficiary, while thanking QRCS. She recalled the difficult situation of her family since the death of her husband many years ago, which caused her a lot of trouble and made her desperate for help.
“I have received no humanitarian aid since more than one year and a half. I cannot even afford to refill my gas cylinder to cook food for my 15 children and grandchildren. In addition, my children are jobless, because there is no work in Gaza. We often have to borrow from our neighbours”.
Dr Akram Nassar, head of QRCS’s office in Gaza, said the project was part of QRCS’s humanitarian interventions to support poor families and alleviate their suffering.
