The 28th edition of the Rabat International Book Fair will kick off today with the participation of the Ministry of Culture and Qatar University Press (QU Press).
Qatar's participation in the 11-day fair comes within the framework of strengthening cultural and intellectual exchange between Qatar and Morocco.
Director of the Ministry of Culture's Libraries Department and Director of Doha International Book Fair Jassim Ahmed al-Buainain said the Qatari participation in the fair aims to forge new relations with professionals from the cultural and publishing industries, in addition to showcasing Qatari publishing houses' intellectual production, as well as holding meetings with fair officials and Moroccan publishing houses to discuss aspects of co-operation.
Al-Buainain added that the Ministry of Culture will present its latest publications of various genres, such as non-fiction relating to law and social sciences as well as fiction in the form of novels, youth and children's books.
Director of QU Press Dr Fatima al-Suwaidi said QU Press decided to display its publications in the pavilion of the Afaq foundation, which is in line with QU Press' aim of marketing its publications locally and internationally, expanding its outreach to readers, arbitrators and authors from the North African region, as well as in introducing them to QU Press.
