Under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani, and in the presence of HE Lolwah bint Rashid AlKhater, Minister of State for International Co-operation, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) will host the 47th session of the General Assembly of the Arab Red Cross and Red Crescent Organisation (Arco).To be held on June 5-6 at JW Marriott Marquis City Center Doha, the session will be chaired by Yousef bin Ali al-Khater, president of QRCS, and attended by presidents, secretaries-general and representatives of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross societies/associations, as well as representatives of some international organisations concerned with humanitarian action.The purpose of the meeting is to build upon the Arab efforts to provide humanitarian and relief services for the disadvantaged communities in the Arab region, as well as to enhance co-operation and coordination to better support the victims of wars and/or natural disasters, QRCS has said in a statement.During the meeting, several key humanitarian, environmental, strategic and administrative issues/reports will be discussed. On the sidelines of the meeting, QRCS will hold an exhibition titled 'Humanitarian Artists', which will showcase many paintings that represent humanitarian messages and manifestations.In celebration of the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Day, a workshop will be held on 'IHL: Realities and Aspirations', moderated by a slew of law and media experts.
