As part of Hamad Medical Corporation’s ( HMC) commitment to improve access to care and reduce wait times for patients, the Department of Dermatology and Venereology has been running extended outpatient clinic timings every Wednesday since September 2022.
Prof Martin Steinhoff, chairman of the Department of Dermatology and Venereology said: “Since opening the extended hours clinic, feedback from our patients has been very positive. The Rumailah Hospital clinic operates from 3pm to 7pm on Wednesdays and is run by two dermatologists. These extended hours complement the regular outpatient timings from 7.30am to 2.45pm Sunday to Thursday. By offering our patients the choice of the extended hours clinic, patients benefit from greater flexibility when scheduling their outpatient appointments.”
“Outpatient appointments at the clinic are reserved for first time visits, not follow-up appointments, enabling our dermatology teams to diagnose and treat new patients more quickly,” added Prof Steinhoff.
HMC’s Dermatology Department provides high-quality medical care for patients of all ages with skin conditions such as psoriasis, skin infections, immune and allergic processes, skin cancer, and other skin manifestations.
First time patients wishing to book an appointment at the extended hours clinic require a referral from a primary health centre.
The clinic operates at Rumailah Hospital.
