The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Mosques Department, has opened a new mosque at Izghawa.
Located on an area of 6,216sqm, the mosque can accommodate 1,340 worshippers and has two houses for imams.
The opening of the new mosque, according to an official statement from Awqaf, comes within the framework of the ministry's plans to increase the number of mosques while developing them in all regions of the country. This is also in order to keep pace with urban growth and population increase in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. The new mosque includes a main prayer hall that can accommodate 1,200 worshippers in addition to a women’s hall for 140 worshippers. The entrance and exit points are specially abled-friendly.
