His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and President of the friendly Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held an official talks session Tuesday morning at the Congress Center in the city of Samarkand.
At the outset of the session, the President welcomed His Highness the Amir and the accompanying delegation to Samarkand, looking forward to strengthening relations between the two countries in various fields.
For his part, His Highness the Amir expressed his thanks for the warm welcome and generous hospitality, pointing out that the two countries have many elements to consolidate co-operation and push relations to broader horizons.
During the session, they discussed the existing friendship and co-operation relations between the two countries and means of enhancing and developing them in various fields. His Highness the Amir and the President of Uzbekistan also discussed ways to implement investment and trade plans between the two countries in a way that supports the economy and development plans of the two sides, in addition to the events and developments on the regional and international arenas.
The session was attended by HE Chief of the Amiri Diwan Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Qassim al-Thani, HE the Minister of Culture Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad al-Thani, HE the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Muraikhi, and a number of senior officials and members of the delegation accompanying His Highness the Amir.
On the Uzbek side, the session was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev, Head of the Administration of the President Sardor Umurzakov, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov, Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, Minister of Agriculture Resources Aziz Voitov, Minister of Culture and Tourism Nazarbekov Ozodbek Akhmadovich, and a number of senior officials.
After that, His Highness the Amir and the President of Uzbekistan planted a tree in the visitors' area designated for leaders and presidents in the Congress Center's garden as a symbol of the visit.
