The chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development of Tajikistan, Muminzod Kamoliddin, has affirmed that the visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to Dushanbe is of great importance due to various issues that will be on the table of discussions between the leaderships of the two countries, which would enhance co-operation in all sectors, including tourism.
In an interview with the Qatar News Agency (QNA), he said that Tajikistan attaches great importance to the visit of His Highness the Amir for several considerations, including the signing of many agreements in various fields covering trade, agriculture, energy, investment, and tourism.
Kamoliddin explained that the tourism sector in Tajikistan is currently in the process of growth.
He said that as the Committee of Tourism Development was only established in 2017, it can benefit from Qatar’s pioneering experience in the field of tourism, especially following the great success achieved by hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, during which it showed tremendous capabilities in the field of tourism, hospitality, and services.
The official described the relations between Tajikistan and Qatar as fraternal based on mutual respect, especially since Qatar was the first country in the Arab Gulf to recognise the independence of Tajikistan and the first Arab country to invest in his country through the Diar Dushanbe project, as well as by building the largest mosque in Central Asia, which stands as an important Islamic edifice that reflects the closeness between the two countries.
Kamoliddin expressed his desire for his country to have Qatar's support in developing the tourism sector by investing in various tourism projects, including hotels, resorts, and tourist centres.
The official also expressed the hope that an agreement would be reached between the two countries to operate direct flights between Doha and Dushanbe, as this would open the door to ease of travel for businessmen and tourists.
