Sheikh Joaan participates in Olympic Refugee Foundation board meeting

HE the President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, participated Friday in the annual meeting of the Board of Directors of the Olympic Refugee Foundation, which was held in the French capital, Paris.The meeting was chaired by the President of the International Olympic Committee Dr. Thomas Bach, who is also President of the Olympic Refugee Foundation and was attended by HE United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, Vice-President of the Foundation and a number of members.The meeting discussed the items on the agenda, and approved the minutes of the last meeting, which was held in June of last year. A number of future projects for the Foundation were reviewed and the necessary decisions were taken regarding them. The members welcomed the invitation of HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani to host the next meeting of the Board of Directors of the Olympic Refugee Foundation in Doha next year 2024.It is worth noting that the International Olympic Committee had announced the establishment of its foundation to support refugees during its meeting held in Lima in September 2017, and the Qatar Olympic Committee was announced as a founding supportive partner in this institution, which aims to continue the efforts adopted by the International Olympic Committee during the past years of In order to support refugees around the world.
