The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs organised a symposium titled 'A Wise Reading', as part of the activities of the 32nd Doha International Book Fair, with the attendance of HE the Minister of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs Ghanem bin Shaheen al-Ghanim.
Moderated by Sharia researcher Moaz al-Qasimi, Hossam al-Din al-Samarrai, from the ministry, spoke during the symposium.
Al-Samarrai discussed a number of axes, most notably: the historical dimension of reading, the evolution of reading after the spread of Islam, the benefits of reading, obstacles to reading, and ways to make reading wise.
The preacher explained that reading is a physical, psychological and emotional interaction between the book and the reader, a calm dialogue between the two that leads the reader to analysis and to draw conclusions, as well as dwelling in the world of imagination.
