The first Kayak Fishing Tournament that was scheduled to take place on Friday and Saturday is postponed to June 23 and 24, the Old Doha Port said Thursday in an annoucement posted on Twitter.
The postponement is because of the unexpected weather conditions and the strong wind forcasts for the weekend, the announcement said. Now the registration for the tournament can be done until June 22, it added.
The event, that is being organised by Old Doha Port and Doha Marine Sports Club, will be held in the Al Bandar area of Old Doha Port as a starting point and the fishing zone will be the port basin, opposite to waterfront of the Al Mina area.
The competition is part of the strategy of the Old Doha Port to activate marine tourism and support marine sports, which is a major part of the activities available in the country, during the summer period.
