The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) has launched awareness-raising and cultural booklets to support Qatari environment during its participation in 32nd Doha International Book Fair (DIBF), which is being held under the slogan 'With Reading We Rise' at Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC).
The four booklets contain methods of conserving wild environment, introducing drought causes and problems, raising awareness of most crucial methods of waste recycling, and discussing Qatar's efforts dedicated to conserving environment and identifying the most critical types of pollution.
Environmental expert and engineering adviser at the MoECC Dr Mohamed Saif al-Kuwari said that over 500 copies have been printed and currently being showcased at the MoECC's pavilion.
He said that the MoECC will distribute a number of those releases to schools and youth centres, in pursuit of raising environmental awareness among local community.
Dr al-Kuwari added that the first release focuses on Qatari wildlife and contains a plethora of tips on methods of conserving wild environment, including trees, shrubs and rare local plants that must be preserved and maintain their propagation.
It also introduces the most important local endangered trees and plants and natural reserves in Qatar.
The second release focuses on local waste and methods of recycling, including food waste, al-Kuwari said, adding that the booklet contains the most vital methods of recycling to reduce family expenditure.
The third release discusses Qatar's efforts in conserving the environment and provides a holistic vision to readers on the most important sources of pollution that should be avoided through daily life practices.
Al-Kuwari added that the fourth release offers a comprehensive vision on drought, in terms of its causes and risks on global environment, along with their implications on human and land resources, highlighting the consequences and implications of climate change and rise of temperature.
