Qatar participated Sunday in the meeting of the Technical Committee of Iraq's Development Road Project, in the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
The meeting brought together representatives from GCC countries, Iraq's neighbouring countries, China, World Bank, and the project's consulting company.
Chaired by Iraqi Minister of Transport Razak Muhibis al-Saadawi, the meeting discussed the details of the strategic project, which uses rail and road networks to link the east and west, starting from Iraq.
Qatar's delegation to the meeting included Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Land Transport Affairs at the Ministry of Transport Eng. Hamad Essa Abdulla, and several officials representing Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar Free Zones and companies of QTerminals and Qatari Diar.
This meeting rounds off a May conference in Baghdad that gathered ministers of transport of Iraq's neighbouring countries and the region and discussed the economic feasibility of the project.
On the margins of Sunday's meeting, the Qatari delegation met with advisers to Iraqi Prime Minister for transport affairs, and officials in the sectors of railways, ports and free zones. The meeting discussed aspects of co-operation and co-ordination between the two countries in the fields of transport, ports and logistics, as well as the projects of Road Development and Al Faw Grand Port.
