The president of Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) Mohamed Saad al-Mughaiseeb has hailed the success of the Qatar 3x3 team which qualified for FIBA 3x3 Nations League U23 Finals which will be held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia from September 13-15 with the participation of winners of 13 conferences from all over the globe.
The Mongolia event is also a qualification event for the 3x3 world championship to be held in Poland at the end of September. QBF president pointed out that the Qatar national team includes promising players among its ranks who will have a great future.
Saadoun Sabah al-Kuwari, Secretary-General of QBF also applauded the success of Al Annabi. He stressed that this achievement confirms the strength of Qatari basketball and its superiority in the 3x3 competitions.
The Qatar U23 men's comprises Mohamed Abshir, Mubarak Gama, Ahmed Saeed and Omar Saad which won the sixth and final leg of the West Asia championship at the Al Gharafa Complex on Monday defeating Jordan 17-13, Saudi Arabia 21-13 and Turkmenistan 21-13.
Qatar won three legs of the total six whose competitions were held in Doha.
In the women's competitions, the Jordan national team qualified for the Mongolia finals winning five rounds out of the six, while Qatar’s women's team gained experience participating in the 3×3 U-23 international teams League.
Qatar’s women's team includes Sarah Zayed, Dana El Sayed, Mona Abdel-Moneim and Lamis Gamal.
