The Qatari-Iranian Joint Committee in the labour field held its 5th meeting in Tehran, under the chairmanship of HE the Minister of Labour Dr Ali bin Smaikh al-Marri and the Iranian Minister of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare Solt Mortazavi.
The joint committee discussed bilateral co-operation in labour affairs, which include the adoption of occupational standards, labour inspection in establishments, ways to enhance tools establishing occupational health and safety towards achieving an exemplary work environment, and vocational training, among other items on the agenda.
The two ministers expressed their pride in the relations between Qatar and Iran which were further developed, thanks to the wisdom of the two countries' leaderships. During the meeting, HE the Minister of Labour Dr Ali bin Smaikh al-Marri emphasised his dedication towards invigorating and bolstering the collaborative ties between Qatar and Iran, with a particular focus on the labour sector, indicating that the activation of joint technical committees will enable them to handle technical issues and surmount any challenges to foster effective co-operation.
He further mentioned that following a series of legislative changes to labour laws and regulations over the past years, Qatar has emerged as a leader in labour market reforms. Dr al-Marri added that Qatar is eager to share its experience with all countries in order for them to benefit from it.
The committee meeting was then followed by the signing of the minutes of the bilateral meeting in regards to mutual co-operation with the aim of raising capacities, exchanging experiences, developing a consultation mechanism between the two countries, exchanging experiences in the field of vocational and technical training and training centers, as well as drafting of a joint action plan for co-operation over the next five years.
Qatar's delegation included officials from the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in addition to the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry. (QNA)
